Also at the Harvard University Concord Field Station. The field station houses Harvard’s cetacean collections, which was super cool to see (and smelled really bad). First, my friend Jay is a narwhalicorn, and then there’s blurry me by a sperm whale skull. Sucker was HUGE. I didn’t get a photo of the blue whale skull (shame on me!) that had to be cut in half to even fit in the building.
This is actually the dorsal view of the sperm whale skull. Sperm whales have the largest nose in the animal kingdom, and most of that space is taken up by the spermaceti organ.
Unfortunately, I can’t remember what skull is to the right of the sperm whale skull, but I think it’s one of the smaller (ha!) baleen whales.
